My Unique Approach  to LPC Supervision

More than supervision hours—learn to think clinically.
My approach helps LPC Associates develop the critical-thinking and case-conceptualization skills that distinguish a competent counselor from an exceptional clinician.

Together, we look beyond symptoms and diagnoses to understand the whole person. You will learn to recognize patterns, assess risk, consider context, and choose interventions that fit the client—not simply rely on a familiar or preferred technique.

Supervision focuses on helping you:

• Develop stronger clinical judgment and case conceptualization
• Connect assessment findings, diagnosis, treatment goals, and interventions
• Recognize risk factors, ethical concerns, and when consultation or referral is needed
• Understand the client within their relationships, culture, history, strengths, and current circumstances
• Use evidence-informed approaches with flexibility and intention
• Know when a technique is helpful—and when a different clinical response is needed
The goal is not to give you a script for every case. It is to help you become a thoughtful, ethical, and confident clinician who can make sound decisions when a case is complex or uncertain

Advanced Case Conceptualization

Learn to think beyond the diagnosis and develop a deeper, more purposeful understanding of each client.

Effective counseling is not simply choosing a technique. It is knowing why a particular intervention fits this client, at this time, and how it connects to their goals, history, strengths, relationships, culture, symptoms, and current circumstances.

In supervision, we will explore the clinical questions that lead to sound judgment:

• What is maintaining the client’s current struggle?
• What patterns, risks, strengths, or contextual factors may be easy to miss?
• What does this particular client need most right now?
• Why is this intervention appropriate—and what are the alternatives?
• How do assessment, diagnosis, treatment goals, and interventions align?
• What are my ethical responsibilities in this case?
• How do I document my reasoning clearly and protect both my client and my license?
The goal is to help you move beyond following a script or relying on a favorite approach. You will build the critical-thinking skills to make thoughtful, ethical, individualized clinical decisions—even when the case is complex or uncertain.

Ethical Decision-Making

Navigate ethical dilemmas, Texas LPC rules, and complex clinical situations with greater clarity, confidence, and professional integrity.

Supervision is more than obtaining required signatures or completing hours. It is a place to strengthen your clinical reasoning, ask thoughtful questions, examine difficult cases, and learn how to make sound decisions that protect both your clients and your license.

I work best with LPC Associates who are ready to be active participants in their professional growth—counselors who are willing to study, reflect, ask questions, receive constructive feedback, and apply what they learn in their clinical work.

Together, we will focus on:

• Applying ethical standards and Texas LPC requirements to real clinical situations
• Recognizing risk, boundaries, scope-of-practice concerns, and documentation needs
• Building critical-thinking and case-conceptualization skills
• Developing confidence in your independent clinical judgment
• Growing into an ethical, competent, and grounded clinician

Documentation and Risk-Management

Build the documentation, risk-management, and clinical decision-making skills needed to practice with clarity, confidence, and integrity.

I provide LPC Associate supervision that goes beyond simply completing required hours. With more than 35 years of clinical experience in mental health and nursing, I support developing counselors as they strengthen their clinical judgment, navigate complex cases, and build ethical, sustainable private practices.

My supervision experience includes work with:

• Children, adolescents, adults, and couples
• Women’s and men’s concerns
• Addiction and recovery
• Eating concerns and weight management
• Trauma, including birth trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, divorce, and child-custody issues
• Mind-body and integrative approaches to care
Together, we focus on practical skills that protect both your clients and your professional future:
• Clear, clinically sound documentation
• Ethical decision-making and risk management
• Case conceptualization and treatment planning
• Professional boundaries and scope of practice
• Building confidence in your independent clinical judgment
• Creating an ethical, values-aligned private practice

Develop the clinical foundation to serve clients well, safeguard your license, and grow into the counselor you are becoming.

Cultivating Exceptional Clinicians

Supervision should do more than help you meet a requirement. It should help you become the kind of clinician who can think clearly, respond thoughtfully, and provide ethical, effective care.

My supervision model supports LPC Associates in developing a deeper understanding of the whole person—their experiences, relationships, history, strengths, culture, symptoms, and goals. Rather than relying on a formula or one preferred approach, you will learn to consider what each client needs and why a particular clinical response is appropriate.

In our work together, you will be encouraged to:

• Ask thoughtful clinical and ethical questions
• Explore the nuance and complexity within each case
• Strengthen your clinical reasoning and case-conceptualization skills
• Choose interventions intentionally rather than automatically
• Integrate feedback into your growth as a counselor
• Develop the confidence to make sound, client-centered decisions
The goal is not perfection. It is to cultivate the knowledge, judgment, humility, and professional identity needed to become an ethical, capable, and exceptional clinician.
